Created attachment 4215 Example; with 4 (or more) windows, other panel items get pushed off the screen I'm running Ubuntu 11.10. When I use the Window Buttons panel item with labels, overflows push other panel items off the side of the screen. In its current state, this common panel item is basically unusable. The example image attached shows the full-width top of my screen with 3 (above) and 4 (below) windows open. The panel is locked, not auto-hidden, size 30, length 100%, not set to automatically increase in length. The Window Buttons item is surrounded on each side by an elastic separator (though this happens with any separator configuration). The problem gets worse and worse with more windows; with more than 6 windows, I can no longer see (or use) any panel item to its right. I've seen reference to different overflow modes for the rewritten xfce 4.8, but in this case it seems like it doesn't even notice that it's overflowing. Let me know how I can help! I appreciate the great software.
Oops, I got the version of xfce4-panel wrong! It's xfce4-panel 4.8.6 (Xfce 4.8).
So, after a reboot, overflow is working properly. I changed the bug level from major to normal. Does anyone know why this is non-deterministic? I'll report back if I can reproduce it again.
This is already fixed because there is an overflow menu
